Definitely, travelling with pets can be challenging, but it can also be incredibly exciting and satisfying. In fact, more people are choosing not to leave their furry friends at home. If you're planning on travelling to Phuket with your pet, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
Preparing for your flight
Start preparing a couple of months before you leave. You will need to obtain a permit to bring your pet into Thailand, get all the necessary vaccinations and prepare your four-legged passenger for the flight. You can apply for a permit up to one and a half months before departure.
Permit to bring a pet to Thailand
To obtain a permit, you should write to the Phuket Quarantine Service e-mail: qshk_hkt@dld.go.th. In a free-form letter, state the reason for your application in English. Be prepared to provide scans of your documents: All completed pages of your passport, veterinary book with all vaccinations, photo of the animal and form 1.1.
Visiting a veterinary clinic
The next thing to do is to visit a state veterinary clinic. The animal must be vaccinated no earlier than 30 days before receiving the certificate.
Purchase of air tickets
The ideal option is a direct flight, without transfers. At the stage of booking tickets, inform the carrier that you are travelling with your pet.
On the plane
The cage, as a fragile hand luggage, can be placed under the front seat. If your pet behaves calmly, you can take it out of the cage and hold it in your arms for the duration of the flight.

Where to stay in Phuket with a pet
We have left this point for last, although you will have to solve the issue of accommodation before obtaining permission to bring your pet to Thailand. In fact, it is not easy to find comfortable accommodation where pets are allowed. According to our observations, only 20% of the total number of villas are ready to accept guests with pets.
